BASIC SECURITY GUARD TRAINING INFORMATION
IN-CLASS Programs ONLINE Programs
As of April 15, 2010, it is required in the province of Ontario under the authority of the Private Security and Investigative Services Act, 2005 (hereafter referred to as the ACT) that any person who wishes to apply for a security guard licence must complete in its entirety a Basic Security Guard Course. This course may only be provided by an authorized training entity and must include Level C CPR/First Aid.
Upon successful completion of the course a mandatory Ministry test must be written and passed. Please note that the test is administered by an authorized provider and it is independent of both the Ministry and training entities.
It is important to understand that completion of the basic security guard course and receiving a passing grade on the said Ministry test are mandatory requirements under the ACT. Furthermore, training and testing must be completed to be eligible to apply for a security guard licence in the province of Ontario.
In order to receive course completion status, the student must not only attend all lessons, he/she must also meet the CPR/First Aid training requirements. Should the student not meet the above noted mandatory CPR/First aid component, the course will be considered incomplete.
Warren Protective Services Limited has registered with the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services and it is authorized to administer the Basic Security Guard Course. Our programs are in conformity with the established Ministry curriculum and include the required Level C First Aid/CPR training. Our programs will assist the student in having the confidence and knowledge to:
- Prepare and write the Ministry test.
- Work safely and professionally as a security guard.
- Uphold the integrity of the security guard industry.
Typically, providers have only offered the course in a class room environment. However, we allow the student to choose the method of delivery most suitable for them. As such we offer two training solutions, which conform fully with the ACT. Upon completion of either program, we upload the required data to the Ministry, at which time the student is able to obtain an I.D. number to schedule a test time.
